I’m starting a small workbook group for women with food addiction issues. We will meet via Zoom on Thursdays at 7:00 PM Central. Please contact me if interested.

I have to say I proved it to myself by trying in vain – many times – to control my addiction on my own.

I knew in general about the 12 steps, but had never really learned anything about them until I read 12 Steps and the Sacraments.

I am in a small workbook group. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The five of us have really gelled, and we are moving and grooving with the Holy Spirit! We are from all over the country, but we are united in our goal to follow the 12 steps to recovery.

    Dalton,

Marian consecration changed my life. I hope you are also having a wonderful experience. I’ll be happy to converse about it here.

What helps me break old habits is replacing them with new, good habits. It does not need to be extreme. Take up a hobby you’ve always wanted to try. Take a walk. Listen to Gregorian chant. The possibilities are endless.

To our modern sensibilities, it sounds horrible that St Mark was denied absolution and Communion due to his addiction. Keep in mind that back then, addiction was not recognized as a disease. We cannot judge people of the 19th century by 21st century standards.

St Mark is an excellent patron for us, and an example of perseverance in the face of unimaginable difficulties.

Linda, I am looking for a small workbook group for food addiction too.

I love your idea of committing to not eating in the car. That is a real problem for me.

I look forward to meeting more people seeking recovery from food addiction.

For me, the addictive foods are sugar and flour. And they are everywhere.

    Blessings,
    Celeste

Hello, I’m Celeste. I live in Cajun Country in South Louisiana. I’ve been married for 41 years and I have three adult sons and three amazing grandchildren.

I came to CIR seeking help with food addiction. I am pleased this forum is not hosted on Facebook, as I find I don’t spend time on Facebook anymore.

I have been on the outskirts of CIR for a while. I wrote a couple of blog articles for the website. I was hoping to start a group at my parish, but COVID got in the way, and last year we were hit hard by Hurricane Ida. I am finally settled in my new to me home.

I have never worked the 12 steps before, so I need guidance. I hope to find that here.

For work, I create courses for an online school three days a week. I enjoy knitting, reading, and making things with my hands (and power tools!).

I am a cradle Catholic with 12 years of Catholic school. I fell away from the Church during college, but I was drawn back by the Real Presence. I’ve completed and renewed several times my Marian Consecration and also consecration to St Joseph. The Marian consecration was life changing for me.

Dalton, I feel isolated too. I hope to find fellowship here.

    Blessings,
    Celeste

    Hello,

I am new here. I am looking for a small workbook group for food addiction. I know I can’t do this alone. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt.

I look forward to getting to know others struggling and succeeding in recovery.
