Thursday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Thanks be to God that when we get sober we are given greater gifts of understanding as well as eyes to see how our painful past is now being used for our greater good. We gain clarity around God’s merciful goodness and how our trials can be worthwhile if we allow them to lead to a deeper relationship with Jesus. When we are immersed in the Word of God daily, then we see that the Gospel is intertwined into our lives. We come to believe that God doesn’t make mistakes and that even our shortcomings can be used as strength for someone else in their recovery and journey toward union with God.

Reflection Questions

  • What is a past circumstance in your life that you see differently now that you are in recovery?
  • What are some ways that you can remove any self-imposed blockages that are standing in the way of seeing what God wants you to see right now?
