Today, my daily goal is to be in the presence of God because if I can do that, I know my day will be fruit-bearing, good, and in accordance with God’s will. In a sense, being in the presence of God means living a Eucharistic life. As we know, the Eucharist is the “source and summit of our Christian life” (CCC 1324). Attending Eucharistic adoration or Mass is wonderful, of course, but it’s not something all of us can do every day for a variety of reasons. Thus, it is important to access the holy presence of God through prayer and meditation, which can help us maintain conscious contact with God and be carriers of the Holy Spirit into our spheres of influence.
Let’s consider Moses, a friend of God. When Moses had the tenacity of spirit to ask God to show him His glory, God did it (Exodus 33:18). After being in God’s presence, Moses came down the mountain with his face shining. Moses didn’t realize this at first but everyone around him could see it. This is what happens when we encounter God’s presence in our daily lives—we are transformed into a shining light, day by day. Like Moses, let us be carriers of God’s dwelling place to others today and beyond.
