Module 14 of 20

Section 14 - Forgiveness

“Then Peter approaching asked him, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, ‘I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.’”—Matthew 18:21–22

PRAY

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

REFLECT

Take time to think about and write down responses to the following questions. Once you’ve done so, discuss your responses with your sponsor and/or small workbook group.

  • How have you experienced forgiveness from God and others?
  • What challenges hinder your efforts to forgive yourself?
  • How have you sought “revenge” on yourself in the past?
  • What actions can you take to begin planting the seeds of forgiveness for yourself and others?
