I have been a periodic binge drinker most of my adult life. Prayer and the sacraments were always what helped me back on the path of sobriety, however I eventually relapsed back. It wasn't until I surrender to AA at the age of 67 and found the steps in particular step 4 and step 5 that I was able to really identify, accept my past behaviors, speak of those to another person, make my amends with God and have my whole spiritual relationship with Him explode to new heights (with joining Calix for my step 11 spiritual growth). On relapsing after 5 1/2 years in AA I also needed to search out a Catholic focused recovery group and discovered CIR. God has always guided me toward what I need when I need it the most. I just can't articulate how much love and mercy he has given me not only in recovery, but also throughout my whole adult life binge drinking.

I am starting to slowly enjoy things in life without alcohol. That it’s not always necessary for certain events . That society has taught .
