Day 3 – The Food Addicts Healthcare Team

A Catholic Approach to Overcoming Compulsive Eating Behaviors

Module 3 of 6

Day 3 - The Food Addicts Healthcare Team

PRAY

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time,
accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.

Taking, as He did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.

Trusting that He will make all things right,
if I surrender to His will.

That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with Him forever
in the next. Amen.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you one area of your heart that needs healing today.

Repeat this prayer slowly: Lord, grant me humility to see myself as You see me.

REFLECT

Reflect on the following questions. It’s recommended that you write these down in a journal. You might also want to share them with your sponsor, your fellows in recovery, or others who share your faith.

  • Are you open to receiving help from other healthcare practitioners? God often desires to bring healing to us through others. How might the Lord be asking you to rely on those in the general healthcare field (general practitioner, therapist, psychiatrist, dietitian, and others) on your recovery journey?
  • God desires to bring healing to all areas—our bodies, minds, and souls. How might God desire to bring healing to all of these areas of your life?
