REFLECT

  1. Daniel and Samantha’s story reveals how pornography created secrecy, distance, and pain within their marriage. Where might hidden behaviors or patterns in your life be damaging your relationships?
  2. Healing began not just individually but together, through honesty, accountability, and grace. Who in your life could you invite into your healing process so you don’t have to walk it alone?
  3. Daniel and Samantha’s marriage was not only repaired but strengthened through God’s grace as well as their intentional cooperation. What would it look like to believe that God desires not just to fix what’s broken, but to restore it into something better?

As a couple on recovery and healing from my husband's addiction to porn and masturbation, it's been a long and hard road. We are eternally blessed and thankful for our Catholic faith, especially the availability of the Sacraments to help sanctify our marriage and include God in every step of our recovery. It's essential that we both work the 12 steps, have a reliable and trustworthy sponsor who shares your faith, a good CSAT therapist for individual and marriage therapy, and have monthly spiritual direction. We both check in with each other using a SAFER checklist daily, and this has helped us rebuild trust and marriage. It is also vital to have a good community of support, friends who can rely upon as accountability partners and/or a friend you can talk to when the need arises. We are all the body of Christ in need of each other. As such, we pray for everyone in CIR+ and for your intentions. May God continue to bless you all richly. Thank you for sharing your story, Daniel and Samantha!
