(d.c.58) Philip was one of seven deacons appointed by the Apostles to help serve the Church in Jerusalem, as narrated in the Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 6. He was a preacher and miracle-worker (Acts 8:5-7), converted Simon the Magician and a court official of the Queen of Ethiopia (Acts 8), was instructed by an angel (Acts 8:26), and had four daughters who had the gift of prophecy (Acts 21:8-9).
Philip just did as he was instructed by the Apostles and followed the Lord’s promptings, and amazing things happened! The result was joy in those evangelised. Does sharing our faith and our recovery bring joy to the world around us?
“Thus Philip went down to [the] city of Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah to them. With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing. For unclean spirits, crying out in a loud voice, came out of many possessed people, and many paralyzed and crippled people were cured. There was great joy in that city” (Acts 8:5-8).
