(1768-1814) Wu Guosheng was born to non-Christians in China and was a self-made businessman who owned a large inn. A Catholic layman converted Wu Gousheng while staying at his inn, and he became very enthusiastic about the faith, took the name Peter at his baptism, and evangelized and grew the Catholic community in the area by the hundreds. He was arrested at 46 years old during a time of persecution against Christians and was condemned to death for refusing to step on a crucifix.
Saint Peter Wu was known for his enthusiasm for justice even before his conversion. He used his natural talents in the service of the Church once he knew of Jesus Christ. What natural talents have you put to service in your fellowship? Do others find you enthusiastic about your faith and your recovery?
“Be loyal to the Lord, accept his will” (Saint Peter Wu in a letter to his wife from prison).
