Tuesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Audio Reflection

In recovery, we learn that we must put God first, surrendering to God’s will—one day at a time—or we will inevitably lose everything. When we fail to give praise and glory to God, we mistakenly begin to take credit for our success, talents, and life overall. And when we fail to give glory to God for our sobriety or success in recovery, we are in real danger of relapse. We must, instead, recall how small and weak we are without Him. It is this key and humble insight that helps keep us from relying on our own power and instead relying on God’s. Therefore, let us always echo what we read in today’s Responsorial Psalm, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God.”

Reflection Questions

  • What are some ways you are relying on yourself as opposed to God in your recovery or life overall?
  • How do you proclaim the glory of God on a daily basis? How can you do so today?
