Saturday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time

When we were in the thick of our addictions, compulsions, and unhealthy attachments, we were anything but humble. Our selfish behavior kept us far from thinking of others and only of ourselves, pushing us away from God and our neighbors. We made a mess of our lives, which we ultimately realized we could not fix by ourselves. Yet, we can take heart, for Jesus is always there to bring us out of our troubles if we are willing to make amends, both with Him and others, and call on Him always for help.

Reflection Questions

  • How do you foster a spirit of humility in your recovery and spiritual life?
  • Is there something in your life causing you to fear that the Lord is asking you to hand over to Him? What steps can you take today to do so?
