Saturday of the Thirty-first Week in Ordinary Time

Jesus also touches on the need for us to be faithful in small ways. Before recovery, I couldn’t be trusted with much at all. I lied for no reason, manipulated people I loved, and stole whenever I thought I could get away with it. When I entered recovery, I realized that before God could trust me with anything great, I had to learn to be faithful in the small things, such as telling the truth even when it makes us look weak, apologizing first, being honest when no one is looking, and taking our unhealthy thoughts captive. May we receive the grace to be faithful in the small things today, so that He will trust us with the larger things.

Reflection Questions

  • In what ways are you still trying to serve two masters, holding on to control, fear, or self-reliance instead of surrendering completely to God?
  • How can you practice being faithful in the small things through honesty, humility, and integrity?
