Memorial of Saint Pius X, Pope

Today is also the Memorial of Pope Saint Pius X. We can look to this man’s practice of virtue as an inspiration to us. We have benefited from his liturgical reforms and his encouragement of the frequent reception of Holy Communion, especially by children. For me personally, his response to secular “enlightenment” by advocating for neo-Thomism as a blueprint of truth has been a great gift for our times. Today, unlike the rich man, may we choose to follow Jesus like Pope Saint Pius X and strive toward virtue and holiness on our recovery journey.

Reflection Questions

  • What bad habits, vices, or tendencies do you still have in possession that you need to give up so that you can more fully follow Jesus? What might giving those up today look like?
  • Ask for Pope Saint Pius X’s intercession to grow in the same virtues that he possessed and practiced throughout his life.
