Memorial of Saint Leo the Great, Pope & Doctor of the Church

Faith is the key ingredient to bring the Holy Spirit into our healing, which Jesus emphasizes in today’s Gospel reading as well. Sin and weakness are all around us, but as Christ tells us, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you” (Luke 17:6). Our one-day-at-a-time journey begins with faith—faith in Jesus, and faith in the Holy Spirit. With this combination, we can overcome all of our worldly distractions.

  • Reflect on what it was like to be in the company of others caught in the misery of your addiction. How is your new recovery fellowship different from this old one?
  • Who in your life is the Lord asking you to forgive? What steps can you take today to do so?
