Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter

By making Jesus our way, our truth, and our life, we begin to experience the glory of God in this world and realize that this life is a pilgrimage to our eternal home. Recovery teaches us, through the Twelve Steps, how to align our way to God’s way by living a life of honesty and truth, and by relying upon Him and not on our own understanding. In other words, by turning over our will to the care of God.

Jesus tells us, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be” (John 14:3). Jesus is going before us so that He can lead the way for us and prepare our heavenly home for our arrival. He will come back to take us to His kingdom. All we need to do is completely surrender and believe in His promises. And as we read in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, “[The promises] are being fulfilled among us – sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize, if we work for them.”

Reflection Questions

  • Are there areas of your life that you haven’t fully surrendered to the care of God? How can you do so today?
  • What “promises” in your life have come to pass because of your recovery and God’s grace?
