Feast of Saints Simon & Jude, Apostles

Saint Jude, often called Saint Thaddeus, played a vital role in establishing the early Church. His Epistle, found in the New Testament, encourages believers to persevere in their faith, to seek God’s mercy, and to show compassion to others. Jude’s message of hope and his emphasis on the power of prayer reminds us that no matter how challenging our circumstances may be in our lives and recovery, we can always find solace and strength in our relationship with God. It took me a few years to really “lean” into this idea during my recovery because I wanted to control so much of it and needed to learn how to find solace and strength in Christ.

We can reflect on their example and apply their teachings to our spiritual lives and recovery. We are reminded to embrace our faith with passion and enthusiasm, remain steadfast in adversity, and extend love and compassion to those around us. Furthermore, their lives remind us that we each have a unique role in spreading God’s love and transforming the world.
