Thank you, Kathy G! I found it so refreshing to imagine the tables turned in that satire piece. Could you imagine that advice being given to husbands in real life? That really helps me put in perspective the “try harder” advice so many of us are told to take towards marriages that are hurt (sometimes destroyed) by the reality of this addiction. This is why I’ve found 12-step recovery so helpful to me, personally, because when I live like I am powerless over anyone else’s addiction, I stop trying to fix what I didn’t break and start trying to live my life. Yes, there’s a lot of grief (and I mean a LOT OF GRIEF), and there’s a lot of freedom. I’d love to hear anyone else’s experiences.
