The Holy Guardian Angels

“From its beginning until death human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. ‘Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life’ (St. Basil). Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God” (Catechism of the Catholic Church 336).

God has provided the perfect companion to accompany us on the journey of recovery. Work to develop an awareness of your angel. May we learn from our angel to always be aware that we are in God’s presence, to praise Him constantly, and to follow His will completely (Step 11 and our entire program).

“O if all men could understand this great gift that God, in His excess of love for man, assigned to us, this celestial spirit. Often remember his presence. You must fix on him the eyes of your soul: thank him, pray to him…Invoke often this Guardian Angel…and repeat the beautiful prayer: Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen” (Saint Padre Pio to his spiritual daughter, Raffaelina).
