A significant part of the recovery journey for me has been forgiving those who have hurt me. There have been deep wounds that I’ve needed healed through reconciliation with my brothers and sisters. It does not mean that the pain is no longer significant or that I’ve been completely healed. Yet, by bringing to Christ’s light my wounds, I have been able to grow and keep going on my journey of recovery. It is also a reminder of my own continual need to make amends to others and God, primarily through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, to help bring healing to the wounds that I’ve caused with others.
Reflection Questions
- With whom do you still need to be reconciled? Are there concrete steps you can take today to move toward reconciliation?
- How is your recovery inviting you to pursue holiness in your current season of life?
