Memorial of Saint Josaphat, Bishop & Martyr

Today’s first reading reveals what a united heart looks like since it is our hearts that dictate how we live. As we read, we are called to “reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age” (Titus 2:12). This is the type of living that is the fruit of working the Twelve Steps with a sponsor and participating in the sacramental life of the Church. Therefore, let us invite Christ to unite our hearts today by staying firm in working our recovery and living our Catholic faith. In doing so, we allow Him to work through us to unite the whole of creation.

Reflection Questions

  • How do you “reject godless ways and worldly desires and live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age”? How does your recovery play a role in living this way?
  • What can you do today to become an instrument that brings others to Christ like Saint Josaphat did?
