Memorial of Saint Charles Borromeo, Bishop

I learned about unity at the group level during the pandemic. Our recovery group faced a tough decision: should we move from online meetings back to in-person or try a hybrid format? The group of over 20 members was evenly split, and emotions ran high. Then someone spoke up about the importance of unity—placing the needs of the group above individual preferences and surrendering the outcome to God. We acknowledged God’s presence in the decision-making process and voted again. With hearts aligned in unity, we moved forward, and our group not only survived—we grew stronger and remained close.

This experience taught me how to apply these principles in all areas of my life. When my husband and I face difficult decisions, we treat them like a group conscience meeting. We weigh our options according to the principles we’ve learned through recovery and the Word of God. We make space for God’s guidance and trust that His plans are good, knowing He is a loving Father who guides our home. May we do the same in all of our relationships as beloved sons and daughters of God.
