Wednesday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time

As we painstakingly do the work of healing with a sponsor, the Twelve Steps show us the way to the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth because they guide us to adopt the principles of acceptance, hope, faith, courage, honesty, patience, humility, willingness, brotherly-love, integrity, self-discipline, and service. These universal principles, one can imagine, were also present in the twelve disciples because they come from God through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Therefore, let us strive to maintain these principles in all our affairs as we grow in our recovery and faith.

Reflection Questions

  • How have you experienced the “Kingdom of Heaven” here on earth by embracing and living out the principles offered by the Twelve Steps?
  • Have you witnessed a total conversion in a sponsee or another person you have walked alongside in recovery? What was that experience like and how did it deepen your faith in God’s healing power?
