Memorial of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Religious

The disciples also refer to Jesus as Rabbi (or Teacher). By addressing Jesus with this title, they defer to His authority and reflect their desire to know the truth. As a result, Jesus begins to educate them with the truth. As addicts, we must do the same by being part of a Catholic in Recovery or other 12-step group so that we can be educated about the truths of addictions and the solution for healing. Finally, we see the disciples draw others to Jesus, telling others they have found the Messiah. Indeed, just as we are to seek healing from Christ, so too are we called to invite others to this same healing. By doing so, we realize that God’s plan for all of us is so much grander than we could have ever planned for ourselves!

Reflection Questions

  • How did Jesus first call you out of your addiction or darkness and to come follow Him? How do you continue to follow Him each day?
  • What can you do today to bring others to the Messiah so that they too may know His love and healing?
