Friday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time

Audio Reflection

As we grow in recovery, we eventually come to Step 12 and, like Jesus, are also called to carry the message of recovery in all our affairs. As Step 12 instructs us, “Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to [others], and to practice these principles in all our affairs.” But what does carrying forth this message look like? Among other things, it means living our life in accordance with the Twelve Steps. Simply put, we “trust God, clean house, and help others.” Carrying the message of recovery and practicing these principles in all our affairs is the essence of maintaining our healing and recovery. May we live out the Steps and share the message of recovery wherever we go with a spirit of trust and hope in the Father, just as Jesus did.

Reflection Questions

  • How do you carry the message of recovery in all your affairs?
  • Have you reached Step 12? If so, what can you do today to carry forth the message of recovery? If not, what next step can you take today to further your own recovery?
