Memorial of Saints Cornelius, Pope, & Cyprian, Bishop, Martyrs

When we were in the throes of our addictions, compulsions, and unhealthy attachments it seemed we were wrestling often with this decision of which path to take. And most of the time, if not all, we took the harmful path, causing us to regret our choices. Jesus explains the outcome of those who heed His words and decide wisely versus those and those who don’t and decide poorly. We know His words and what we need to do to act on them. Our mission is to build our lives on the solid foundation of His Word and the wisdom of recovery.

We are going to face both trials and triumphs in our recovery journeys. Both can shake us but if we are standing on solid ground we can go anywhere and do anything without carrying the burden of doing so upon ourselves alone. Jesus offers us His companionship and support as we journey: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). The way of life He has laid out for us allows us to share our burdens with Him and, thus, discover freedom and happiness.
