Thursday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time

Just like during Jesus’ time, our world is lost, broken, confused, and in search of an answer. So many have turned away from their faith or have never received the faith at all. We are grateful and blessed to have found a way out and to now strive to live in God’s holy will. We remain ready, willing, and open to God’s orderly direction found through 12-step fellowship and the sacraments of our Catholic faith.

We must never take credit for this but give all the glory to God who continues to lead us on a path to holiness and sanctity. As today’s Gospel reading reminds us, we must stay awake and ever vigilant in our recovery journey by taking action: staying honest, open-minded, and willing as we work through the Twelve Steps, regularly attending recovery meetings, sponsoring others, reading daily Scripture, praying, and frequenting the sacraments. We have been reborn, filled with blessed grace and perfect peace as we wait for Him to come again!

Reflection Questions

  • Have you worked the Twelve Steps and become “awake,” ready to carry the message of recovery with those still suffering? How can you do so today?
  • Is there anything that hinders you from living in the perfect peace of Christ? If so, what actions can you take to rectify this?
